Extended Studies
Extended Studies courses at ACAD

You can study visual art, media arts, and design in our well-equipped studios through a full year schedule of challenging and creative courses, workshops and special events designed to meet your creative learning goals. Each semester, Extended Studies offers:

  • Adult credit courses for adult students who prefer to earn degree credits.
  • Credit-free opportunities for adults that focus learning through certificate programs.
  • Fresh and diverse, evening and weekend credit-free personal interest courses for adults.
  • Youth weekend courses throughout the academic year, and intensive summer workshops.

Additional special opportunities include:

  • College-credit through the Pre-College Program for 16-18 year olds who have completed grade 10, 11 or 12.

Extended Studies Instructors are professional artists, designers and writers with active practices in their fields. They will help you make the most of your creativity by promoting critical thinking and problem-solving, and will teach you effective technical skills for realizing your creative vision.

Extended Studies credit courses are taught by ACAD faculty members, to the same standards as our regular credited courses. A portfolio review, or submission of a previously earned degree, or a meeting with the program head is required before admission to your first studio credit course.
