Invisible/Visible, the symposium on professional Craft will be held at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta, June 10, 11th, 12th. This celebration of glass, ceramics, fibre and metal is part of Canada’s National Craft Year 2007 events.
The symposium brings together national and Albertan talent for a cross-media Craft based conference addressing inspiration, professional and marketing information, life stories, craft history, technology and exposure to great images of Fine Craft. Included in the events are five two day pre-symposium workshops, some of Canada’s leading educators and makers speaking on craft, demonstrations of innovative media specific techniques and evening social activities to round out the days events.
Several national juried exhibitions and numerous smaller exhibitions are also on across Calgary for the symposium including the National Glass Arts Association of Canada (GAAC) Exhibition and the National Metal Arts Guild Exhibition at the Illingworth Kerr gallery. As well “All About Alberta” an exhibition of craft organized by the Alberta Craft Council will be displayed at the Nickel Arts Museum, fresh from its Washington DC and Edmonton success.
The international Craft Organization Development Association (CODA) conference follows June 14 -17 as separate conference, also at ACAD, the first time ever outside the United States, hosted by the Alberta Crafts Council.
