Wellness Centre, Intramurals + Atheletics

ACAD students may access the excellent athletic and physical recreation facilities at SAIT Wellness Centre upon presentation of their validated ACAD student ID card. Athletic facilities include a 35-metre swimming pool, a 15-person hot tub and a diving area, a multi-purpose gymnasium, hockey rink, four racquetball and four squash courts, a weight training room, an aerobics/dance studio, bowling alley plus men's and women's locker and steam rooms. The Wellness Centre coordinates intramural and open recreational activities, as well as a full program of activity classes and sports clubs. ACAD students are eligible to compete on SAIT intercollegiate teams in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) in basketball, ice hockey, soccer, volleyball and cross-country running. Jimmy Condon Athletic Scholarships are available to ACAD student athletes on some of the SAIT intercollegiate teams. Contact the ACAD Awards Office in the Student Resource Centre for more information on the Jimmy Condon Athletics Scholarships at 403.338.5506.

SAIT Health Office

A Nurse is in attendance Monday through Friday for the Fall, Winter and Spring Sessions. (During breaks and Summer Session reduced hours are in effect.) Doctors, chiropractors and massage therapists are available by appointment. Medical records and information are confidential and information will not be released without a student's written permission. Contact ACAD Student Resource Centre at 403.338.5506 for more information or call the SAIT Health Office at 403.284.8666 to book an appointment. The SAIT Health Office is located at the northeast end of the Senator Burns Building, room R41.

Health + Dental Plan

As a member of ACADSA you are covered by the Student Health and Dental Benefits Plan. An information booklet with basic information about the plan and your pay direct card is available in the ACADSA office (located in the Main Mall beside the Marion Nicoll Gallery Room 335) or downloadable here. Complete coverage details and electronic claim forms are available at www.ihaveaplan.ca.

Full time students are assessed a mandatory coverage premium as part of their tuition and student fees in the fall semester. Coverage extends until August of the next year. Family coverage is also available. Students with similar alternate coverage can choose to opt out of the plan and receive a premium refund. Visit www.ihaveaplan.ca for opt-out forms.

Artstream students, part-time students and students who begin their programs in the winter semester may register for the plan directly at www.ihaveaplan.ca.

Interfaith Advising Centre (MC218) + Interfaith Meditation Rooms (MB314/ V126)

SAIT Interfaith Centre offers a variety of spiritual services to our multi-faith community. Chaplains of different faiths can be found at the centre throughout the week and are available to both staff and students. Hours and availability of personnel are posted with contact information.
