What's Happening
Will Foster

Thursday JANUARY 25, 1:00 PM - 2:00PM
Room 371, ACAD.

Artist and curator Will Foster is committed to creating alternative public territories in which art can function. Rooted in context, his practice is framed by opportunities for, and collaboration with, a diverse range of artists. Foster’s projects are defined by their connection to place and community, involving active participation and communication between artists and the public.

Will Foster is the primary initiator and a co-curator of Cabin Exchange, a public art project that makes use of modular 10ft x 8ft x 8ft storage containers, to legally present public art in the city of Glasgow. In another initiative, Foster designed and built a portable outdoor projection system. The projector became the impetus for Coming Soon Project, a series of site specific one minute narrative films by international artists, projected into urban space.

By developing works in close relation to the public, Will Foster facilitates active participation unique to each context. Through this way of working, new ideas are generated about the possibilities for creative interchange between artist, location and community.
