Heather Murrary - Dappled Things

July 28, 2008 - October 3, 2008
Marion Nicoll Gallery | LRT Window Space
Opening Reception | Thursday, September 25, 2008

Named for Gerard Manley Hopkins? poem Pied Beauty.

Dappled Things is a garden, a literal and figurative one. This garden is composed of drawings on hand made paper and blossoms of hand felted wool imitating the textures, colours, and dappled light in a flower-bed. Through these objects? translucent surfaces, viewers see shadows of the materials from which the objects were made, the past life of the media. These shadows connect to the mid-life of the artist alluding to the dappling effects of life experience.
