Immaterial explores the pervasive connections made between the object and significance. Melissa Wong plays with irony by using hand-cast paper to create text, forming words with an ephemeral quality. The resulting installation evokes an understanding presence that highlights the importance placed on the material object.
The + 15 Window is located in the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts. The space features three large windows sized for small-scale installations or a developing body of work. The location gives student artists access to a broader viewing public, and presents the opportunity to show alongside other Calgary Artist Run Centres: Truck, Stride, The New Gallery and the Untitled Art Society.
