Suppose you were lost in the woods for a few days. What would you think about most? I am not part Indian, said Fran, sounding a bit sad. My parents came from Germany. They don't have any Indians there. But your past seems so - so romantic, she said with a sigh. They brought whiskey to trade furs and pemmican. These whiskey traders brought a sad time for both the Natives and the European settlers. The whiskey made people drunk. Sometimes they got drunk and hurt themselves or each other. The real question, said Mrs. McKay, is whose turn it is to do the dishes.
