Stanford Perrott Lecture Theatre | ACAD

Join ACAD’s Art + Design Now lecture series as we welcome our keynote speaker; artist Craig Le Blanc.

Craig Le Blanc’s artistic practice is a study in the multiplicity of industrial manufacturing, gender identity and minimal form.  His simple objects and commentary underline a focus on communicating concepts both personal and generalized with objects both familiar and common.

His digital process encompasses design, fabrication and formation using manufacturing technologies such as Computer Numeric Control (CNC) and Rapid Prototyping.  Le Blanc works with considered finish and surface, a post-processing that focuses on the elimination of production evidence in favour of the autonomy of form.

Le Blanc’s artistic practice has evolved from the association of art and sport to the study of masculinity, virility and the male archetype. Le Blanc investigates these relationships in the context of games, sport, merit and heroism. He utilizes objects native to sports culture to communicate on the masculine identities and social ideals associated with sport, vigour, and individual achievement.
