February 6, 2009 (Calgary, Alberta) - Multidisciplinary students from the Alberta College of Art + Design are pleased to present the ninth anniversary of the extremely popular wearable art runway show, ArtaWEARness. This annual catwalk performance has sold out every year, and the 2009 evening promises to be another show stopping evening of wearable art on the runway. Come and see avant-garde work created by some of Calgary's most exciting emerging artists, as they explore aspects of sculpture, fibre arts, alternative materials and the human body.
"ArtaWEARness is always a treat to see what the emerging artists at ACAD are bringing forward. Every year promises new and exciting work, I can't wait for number nine!" stated a 3rd year Fibre student. As Alex Felicitas (ArtaWEARness Show Producer) explains, "Last year's show sold out within a week and we expect the same numbers this year. ArtaWEARness continues to be a growing success from year to year for al involved".
ArtaWEARness IX will take place on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Alberta College of Art + Design, located at 1407 14 Avenue NW, Calgary. Doors will open at 7pm and the wearable art exhibition will begin at 8pm. General admission space is limited, so come early to get a great view! Tickets are $25 for seating and $15 for general admission (standing). Tickets can be purchased through ACAD starting February 8th by calling 403.284.7625. A small percentage of tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
